The Roma Farmhouse Addition sits high amongst large expanses of farmland and serves as the home base of the property owners.
The new entry point/outdoor room seeks to provide an entertaining area where family and friends can enjoy the stunning country vistas that the house is afforded. The design aims to provide a space to sit on the fringes and enjoy the views.
The design concept is about ‘bringing the outside in’. This is achieved through the manipulation of ground plane that connects to the outdoors, while offering protection in the form of a thin permeable membrane that can peel away if desired. These elements create a space that is a sanctuary and hub for a large or intimate group of people in a vast expanse of space.
